::Devotional:: ‘The Desires Of His Heart’

August 30, 2010

There’s no doubt that many things about the Lord are mysterious.  In fact, I once heard someone say that in order for God to be God there’s just some things he’s going to keep for himself that only he can understand.  Yet, at the same time, God has recorded so much about himself in the Bible – we could spend our entire life studying it and never run out of things to learn.  One of the things I’m searching for in the scriptures now is what God has told us about the desires of his heart.

During the service yesterday morning at my church the Lord urged me to begin recording down passages of scripture that I came across having to do with the desires of his heart.  I started to record them in the back of my Bible and I thought I might share some of them with you this morning.

3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.  1 Timothy 2:3-4

32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!  Ezekiel 18:32

24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.  1 Peter 2:24

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  1 Peter 2:9

If you have additional passages of scripture that you are familiar with on this topic please post them in the comments section below.  I’d like to have as extensive a list as I could to study from.

-Stay Rooted Col. 2:7-
