::Devotional:: ‘It’s not about me’

August 25, 2010

If there’s one thing in life we could stand to lose a little more of would be self.  Believe it or not, I stand in my own way more often than not when it comes to drawing closer to the Lord.  How about you?  This morning the Lord reminded me that I’ve been saved by grace and my life is no longer about me.

Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.  But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.  Ephesians 2:3-5

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  Ephesians 2:6-7

In reading through Ephesians this morning I was reminded of God’s love and mercy for me.  While I was dead in my sins God made me alive in Christ.  Why?  Because of his great love for me and for his desire to display the incomparable riches of his grace and mercy.

Thank you Lord for reminding me of my purpose and resetting my perspective this morning.  It’s not about me; it’s all about you.
