::Devotional:: ‘There is Always Hope’

March 22, 2010

Life is not easy by any stretch of the imagination.  It seems like the longer you live the harder it can get too.  Maybe that’s because there are more situations and circumstances to go through.  Maybe that’s because there is more people and relationships to deal with.  Whatever the reasons, life can be hard and seemingly hopeless.  Seemingly is the key word in that last statement.  Although Christians may sometimes feel hopeless, with Jesus there is always hope.

Personally I believe the greatest weapons of the enemy are the darts of doubt and discouragement.  At least those are the two that seem to hit me the most often and with the greatest impact.  I’ve learned over the years that I’m not alone in this.  Many people experience periods of doubt, discouragement, and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness in life – even Christians.  It is a weight, a burden, the enemy insists on placing on our shoulders to weigh us down.  It is his intent to oppress.

Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy.  Psalm 43:2b

However, it is a burden that we do not have to carry.  The Father has provided a blessed hope in Jesus Christ to all those who claim His name.

Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.  Psalm 43:3

Today you may face periods of doubt and discouragement where the enemy’s oppressive burden of hopelessness is heaped upon your shoulders – just remember, there is always hope for the Christian.

    I love the song and the devotional. Finances can get you discouraged. The world situations can too.
