::Devotional:: ‘The Value Of A Moment’

October 14, 2009

Over the last few days, as my wife and I have spent time with family and friends mourning the loss of her Grandfather, I have been reminded of the value of a moment.  Some moments over the past few days were valuable for rest, some for mourning, some for rejoicing and laughing, some for reflection, some for prayer, some for comfort, some for eating, some for hugs, some for visiting with family and friends, some for storytelling, and some for tears.  Regardless of the moment, it was precious.

Scripture tells us that there is a moment in time, already designated on our behalf, where we will pass on from this life. Being reminded of that seems to make me more conscious of the moments that I have in front of me and even moments that I have left behind.  Life is short and each of us are destined to have only so many moments in our lives.  We ought to be purposeful and seek the value of each one.

No one knows the day or the time.  The angels in heaven don’t know, and the Son himself doesn’t know.  Only the Father knows.  So watch out and be ready!  You don’t know when the time will come.  Mark 13:32

-Stay Rooted Col. 2:7-
